Oh my gosh you guys. I knew these would be good, but I didn’t expect just how much I would love them! I think Shiro’s MM&M Collection seriously knocked it out of the park in terms of beautiful fall colors, pigmentation, ease of use, and all-around awesomeness!
There’s a billion photos so I am breaking the posts up into multiple parts 😀
Part one includes 10 of the 20 eyeshadows.
- Have a Biscuit Potter — rich metallic emerald
- All Kinds of Courage — royal navy with green shimmer
- After All This Time — satin black with green sheen
- The Boy Who Lived – charcoal (leans almost dusty purple on my cool skin) with gold and red sparks
- Too Big to be Allowed — rich brown with reddish sparkles
- Mad as her Master — super dark blurple with green shimmer shift
- Dark and Light Inside Us — deep purple satin with bronze shimmer
- If You’ve Got Enough Nerve — intense copper orange
- A Free Elf — matte mustard yellow
- Constant Vigilance! — crazy amazing golden bronze
I will say right off the bat that the site descriptions are pretty accurate, although I think all the shadows look way better in person than in the swatches. All of these go nuts with color and sparkle in direct sunlight.
In terms of immediate negatives, I do wish the collection wasn’t just movie Harry Potter and had some book references as well. For example, the color for Professor McGonagall is an emerald green which only makes sense to the movie (it’s the color of her robe in the first movie) whereas most casual fans and readers would immediately assume from the swatch that the emerald color is for Slytherin or perhaps Draco Malfoy! (Sidenote, I want a Draco color. Deep dusty evergreen with crazy silver sparks anyone?)
SEE HOW CRAZY AWESOME THEY ARE IN DIRECT SUN!?
I’m starting with that swatch before moving onto the somewhat flatter looking indirect light ones.
As always these are finger swatches over theBalm Put a Lid On It! (I used tape this time too! Yay!)
They all look satin and smooth in indirect light. Part of that may be because of how smooth they are to work with! I found all of these super pigmented (most are only 1-2 swipes of shadow) and very easy to blend.
I’m thinking All Kinds of Courage will be gorgeous as a liner!
Now onto the more sparkly direct sunlight photos 😀
Blurry photos really bring out the sparkle colors in the shadows.
I’m loving the pink sparkle in Too Big to be Allowed! It makes it a more unique brown. I don’t really see a shift in Mad as her Master, but it may need a stickier primer for that. It does have a bright green sheen when the light hits it.
I think that all these shadows are hard to capture nicely on camera due to their glittery sparkly nature. Once on the eye, I think the shimmer in motion looks amazing.
Some winners from part 1 are Constant Vigilance, surprise favorite If You’ve Got Enough Nerve, and neutral with a twist Too Big To Be Allowed.
Part two will be tomorrow!!
til later lovelies,

Man, now there’s three more that I need! Constant Vigilance and Free Elf are soooo pretty!

Free Elf totally surprised me! I’m so happy I just caved and got samples of everything because otherwise I don’t think I would have ever gotten Free Elf based on Shiro’s swatch alone 🙂

That’s always how I end up feeling with collections! Yes I end up with a handful of shades I won’t I use but I discover colors I love but wouldn’t have tried otherwise. It’s totally worth it!

I’m so annoying – I just wanted to comment and say that green for McGonogall didn’t come from the movies – the movies took it from the books! She was described as wearing emerald green robes quite frequently!

Ahaha, I know I know! But the rest of the collection was inspired by the movies hence why I mentioned it.
