Whoo hoo! It’s time for Part 2 of the crazy Shiro Cosmetics MM&M Collection swatchfest! This is the rest of the eyeshadows 🙂 I will do the two chocolate frogs (bronzer & highlighter) and lipgloss after this!
This is the second half of the shadows, so it’s the next 10 colors.
This was such a fun collection to swatch. I am loving the pigment, ease of use, and color selection! It is really putting me in a fall mood 🙂
Today’s 10 shadows are:
- That’s Chess! — warm golden tan with red tones
- A Bit of Light Reading — Velvety rich burgundy
- Wizard Wheezes — insane glitterbomb of red, blue, green in orange satin base
- There’s No Such Thing as Magic — greige and ballet pink had a baby = this color
- Metamorphmagus — blurple satin with blue and pink sparks
- You’re Just as Sane As I Am — pale cream with tons of blue sparkle
- He Who Must Not Be Named — green-grey matte with some red sparks
- The Well Organized Mind — cool, pale silver
- Too Old, Too Poor, Too Dangerous — medium grey taupe satin (also wins as the color name that made me the most emotion. Poor Lupin 😦 )
- Not Yet So Damaged — pale cornsilk satin (this is the Draco Malfoy color. I’m laughing so hard about this; it’s totally his hair color, lol)
Once again, I found all these rich in pigment and easy to apply. The website descriptions were pretty accurate, but the shadows look much better in real life and especially in direct sun. All swatches are done over theBalm Put a Lid On It!
Most of these shadows (and I think shadows in general) appear more satin in dim and indirect light. Many of these really come to life when in direct sunlight. The sparkles are much more evident in sun.
In sun they’re CRAZY sparkle heaven 🙂
All of them benefit from better lighting. Metamorphmagus is the only one where I didn’t see a shift as per the website descriptions, but this one might need a stickier primer. Still really pretty in the light though, with all the added sparkle colors!
He Who Must Not Be Named is a surprising color. It’s almost…gross? But it so unique and interesting. It’s like a very greyed down olive green. I have no idea what to use it with, but it is so interesting I’m determined to find a way to use it.
Wizard Wheezes is seriously a favorite of mine. It was actually going to be the one that I blind-bought full size but then I was like “no, gotta chill.” and instead I bought samples of all of them, haha.
In this photo you can definitely start to see a blue sheen to Metamorphmagus. I am determined to wiggle out whatever shift it’s supposed to have. I think some primer experimentation is in store 🙂
See the red sparks in He Who Must Not Be Named? Very subtle and not as much as I hoped.
You can also see that Well Organized Mind (WOM) and You’re Just as Sane as I Am (YJAS) are very similar colors. Both are pale white-ish colors. WOM is definitely a silver color leaning more cool-green. YJAS is a cream color, and warmer with lots of blurple sparks in it. I prefer YJAS but mostly because I love me some blue/purple sparkles!
On my ~nc15-ish skin Too Old Too Poor appears more of a medium dark grey taupe than just a medium one, as per the website the description. It’s an interesting color, one that I don’t already have. It’s almost the slightest olive-y taupe, especially next to the cool tones of WOM and yellow of Not Yet So.
Let’s just stare at my favorites some more. Slight blur in photos really shows the sparkles! I will say that There’s No Such Thing as Magic isn’t really a shimmer shade; that’s just Wizard Wheezes shedding EVERYWHERE. When they call it a glitterbomb, don’t underestimate that! I saw glitter all over in my room because of this swatch, haha.
Eyeshadow swatches are DONE!
I do think this is a very cohesive autumnal collection. I love that there’s a wide range of colors, going from a black to a very pale silver. It does lean warm, and as much as I don’t usually wear warm colors, I think this makes for a very good fall collection.
Surprise favorites: That’s Chess!, A Bit of Light Reading, No Such Thing As Magic
Ones I was excited about and was NOT disappointed by: Wizard Wheezes (GLITTTTER!!!)
I have a great need for some full sizes of some of these, despite how horrible I am at ever using up an eyeshadow. I’m actually considering pressing all my samples so I can have a pressed Harry Potter palette! I’ve never pressed before, but since this a permanent collection, I don’t have to worry about losing something LE.
Stay tuned for part 3, with the Chocolate frogs and lipglosses!
til later lovelies,
