Indie Spotlight ~ Aromaleigh Cosmetics ~ a.k.a. my continued love affair for metallic indie eyeshadows

It’s time for another indie spotlight! Today’s brand is Aromaleigh Cosmetics, an indie brand that specializes in loose eyeshadows, blushes, and face powders. Their collections usually have some amazing and highly thought-out theme like Greek mythology or poisonous plants 🙂
This will probably be a two parter since I received my latest order in the mail today, which includes some September exclusive items you may want to see.

I really like how Aromaleigh Cosmetics always has long stories behind their collections. They put a lot of thought and research into every product, and the passion for their brand clearly shows. They’re also one of the oldest, if not the oldest indies around: they opened in 1998.

This is two of my recent orders combined, and as I’ve mentioned above, I have one more order that I will document soon 🙂

I bought eight of their eyeshadows, mostly because they were having a clearance sale (on their already reasonably priced products) and I’m a sucker for a shimmery eyeshadow. I tried to get colors I didn’t already have in my collection.

Aromaleigh Cosmetics eyeshadows ---Sherlock collection,

Aromaleigh Cosmetics eyeshadows from the Sherlock, Eye Lustre, and Alchemie collections

I think some of these colors are now fully discontinued, but I’m sure they’ll still show up in blog sales and destashes if you’re interested 🙂

I bought the colors:

  1. Pupils Dilated –Sherlock collection– periwinkle with strong gold shimmer
  2. How Quaint –Sherlock collection– dusty purple grey with light blue sparkles
  3. Sooo Changeable –Sherlock collection– Taupe-y green-y brown, with a golden sheen; it’s like a combination of several neutral tones
  4. Password Protected –Sherlock collection– purple mauve with strong gold overtone
  5. Guise — discontinued Alchemie collection– light metallic gold, slight green tone
  6. Nanette –discontinued Eye Lustre collection– cool toned pearl blue shimmer
  7. Animus –discontinued Alchemie collection– rich amber gold
  8. Isabella –discontinued Eye Lustre collection– heather purple with silver sparks

In the swatches, the top is over bare skin and the bottom is over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. The swatches are a bit messy because I didn’t let the Pixie Epoxy dry enough to swatch nicely, oops. That stuff is really sticky.

Any stickier primer base helps loose eyeshadows immensely. I think next time I’ll try a NYX cream base instead of the sticky Pixie Epoxy and hopefully I can get cleaner control. The colors really sing over a base though.

I really really love Animus; that was a surprise favorite. And I love Pupils Dilated over a sticky base because that gold shimmer is so unique. How Quaint and Nanette are my current favorites, mostly because I’ve been really into blues this month.

I also got many samples between these two orders. I love samples; they always introduce me to shades I might not try otherwise.

For samples I got another Nanette as well as:

  1. Ligeia –Okeanides collection (seasonal, will return summer 2016)
  2. Karkinos –Mythical Monsters collection
  3. Janus Primus Vesta Extrema –special edition January 2014 color
  4. Silver Parachute –discontinued Hunger Games collection
  5. Aten –discontinued Ancient Magick collection
  6. Oddly Ostentatious –discontinued Hunger Games collection

Ligeia was the only sample I actually purchased. I really wanted to grab it because it was described as “Wedgewood blue” which is one of my favorite colors. I decided against a full size shadow because I was getting Pupils Dilated in that same order and I was worried they’d be too similar, being blues with gold shimmer. Ligeia is more muted and has a darker gold shimmer, but they are definitely cousins. If by some miracle I finish Pupils Dilated by next summer I might pick up Ligeia.

So many colors, so little time!
I hope you enjoyed my many many swatches of Aromaleigh shadows. I really love this brand! I like the stories behind collections as well as the vast amount of things to choose from. It’s both intimidating a little like being a kid in a candy store 🙂

til later lovelies,
xoxo Swatchlette

Holy cow are those gorgeous shades! They actually didn’t swatch too bad over bare skin!

I’m so impressed with the level of detail put into the collection descriptions. Every time I browse their website it’s an educational experience!

Is the order you have on the way from the Fatalis collection?

    Lovely post 🙂
